Hartford Forklift Parts - The city of Hartford, Connecticut is the capital city of the state, and was the county seat of Hartford County, until the state disbanded the county government during the year 1960. Based on the Census of the year 2010, the city's population was 124,775, making it the 7th biggest city in New England. It is the second most heavily populated city located on the Connecticut River, that is the biggest river in New England. Hartford ranks the 3rd largest city within Connecticut, coming in after the coastal cities of Bridgeport and New Haven. With a population of 1,212,381, Greater Hartford was the largest metropolitan area within the state of Connecticut, based on the census of 2010.

During the year 1614, a Dutch explorer named Adriaen Block visited the region. Shortly after, fur traders from the New Netherland colony set up trade at Good Hope, called at the time as Fort Goede Hoop. This fort was located at the convergence of the Park and Connecticut Rivers. It was established during the year 1623 but the fur traders ended up abandoning their post by 1654. Now, the region close to the place is still called Dutch Point.

In 1635, the very first English settlers started to come to the region. At first, their settlement was called Newtown. During 1637, it was renamed Hartford. This name was selected to honor the home of Samuel Stone, among the original settlers, who came from the English town of Hertford.
